A series of engagements had been undertaken in major cities across Canada with significant Black populations and community grassroots organizations. These convenings provided participatory platforms to discuss challenges, opportunities and identify existing capacity and capacity needs for the Black community regarding housing and community housing. The information harvested through these sessions and summarized in this report will be critical to inform the purpose, vision and long-term value-add of the BCHC. The convenings were implemented by host organizations with experience in coordinating and implementing convenings of this nature and have access and outreach to the Black community grassroots organizations. The convenings have taken place between November 2023 and February 2024.
